UGH...... (DEEP BREATH!)
.............
LIFE has its trials as everyone knows..
LIFE is GOOD life is BAD life has its ups and downs.
Some go through more in a year then some go through in a lifetime.
Some people wonder why they are here, others wonder what we would do without them :)
I have a good LIFE... There are parts of my life I wish I could change, redo or relive.
There are parts in my life I wish I could share with everyone, but am lucky enough to keep it to myself :)
I have a WONDERFUL FAMILY and could not be who I am today without them.
I thank everyone in my LIFE for what they have contributed (good or bad) to how MY LIFE is today.
Be grateful for what LIFE gives you. Everything can change SO fast!
I love my LIFE and the people in it!

Young, FUN, daring & CARING!!

Tonni has the BIGGEST heart!
She would never hurt you, and will always help you.
....(MY side of the story)....
July 15th 2006 was Tonni's 19th birthday!
her boyfriend (at the time) Dan, Kyle & I
decided it was a brilliant idea to get Tonni a longboard as a gift!
(little did we know.....)
The fallowing night (July 16th 2006)
Tonni rode her longboard to some friends house
to do hair and hang out...
it was a little before midnight when she decided it was late
and she needed to head home so she could wake up early and do more hair the next day!
(absolutely no intention of going for a midnight cruise on her new longboard)
In the mean time Just a few miles away
Kyle, Kip & I, sound asleep in bed. (I hate this)
Early the next morning (July 17th 2006) Kyle is at work,
I am sitting at the table sorting a bag of jewelry and hair accessories I just purchased,
Kip is still sound asleep.. (To who's surprise:))
I receive a phone call.. no one at the other end (weird, I hate that)
so I hang up.. a moment later, same number calls again,
so I ignore it... This time a voicemail.
I pick up the phone and dial my inbox
only to hear.. Robyn this is SGT. (so n' so) if you could give me a call back ASAP.
I IMMEDIATELY call Kyle to see if he is okay (while walking out to my car to make sure its not stolen or something) Kyle answers and is fine. My next instinct is to call Tonni
(all before returning the call to the Sargent)
To my surprise on Tonni's end of the line is SGT. So n' So...
My first thought is Tonni is in Jail and needs bailed out...
Was I wrong...
He introduced himself, said he got my number from Dan
(the last number dialed from Tonni's phone)
And proceeded to say that Tonni was in a longboarding accident
and was in critical condition in the ICU at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
I rushed to Kips room to wake him
(while still on the phone)
I yelled "Kip!! Tonni is in the hospital GET UP!!"
the SGT was still talking I remember hearing his voice but couldn't tell you what he said
everything was so numb!
Driving to the Hospital we tried contacting my parents and siblings
but nothing, no one would answer I was in such a panic!!!
My dad was in California for work, My mom was in meetings...
Now, in my head I pictured her with a broken leg maybe stitches cuts and scratches,
but nothing TOOOO serious.....
Boy was I wrong!!
we walked in to her hospital room to find a porcelain doll...
Just laying there nothing moving but her chest from small assisted breaths.

Around 5am
Someone (we don't know who) called in on their way to work and reported a dead body,
on the side of the rode, near a field close to their house.
(FIVE AM!!
she left at midnight, my mind just boggles! how long was she laying there?
Who did what? how is she still alive?? how long WILL she still be alive!!)
Tonni was taken in as a JANE DOE until a neighbor found her phone in their yard.
She was taken in with SEVEN broken ribs, a punctured lung, skull fractures, brain hemorrhage,
coma, broken eye socket, and a broken collar bone.
Tonni had absolutely NO exterior cuts scrapes or bruises (other than her killer black eye)
We all thought that was kind of strange..
(if you even slip on a stationary longboard your bound to get some time of exterior marks)
A Doctor (who was not Tonni's Doctor) was on duty paid us a visit,
looked at her charts and info and very concerned said there is NO WAY this is a longboarding accident!
it is very much fal-play (spelling??) He said someone may have hit her with a car but that would still leave her with exterior scrapes... as bruises started appearing he noticed a pattern caused from something solid like a bat or metal poll or something like that....
The field where she was found was a mile or 2 the OPPOSITE direction of her house
and to get to where she was you would have to go up and around or down and around
from where she was coming from....
That totally left us all for concern, when we knew she was tired and wanted to go straight home.
why would she go for a ride BY HERSELF in the middle of the night?
The only explanation was she was DUMPED for DEAD in a field... :(
Its hard to imagine the Shock and pain you go through, until you have gone through something like this.
to me, it is equal to a death! I don't want to sound selfish to those of you who have experienced a death of a loved one, because I had not (at that point).
You see you sister LIFEless while they are telling you to plan for a funeral.....??
Thank HEAVENS for BLESSINGS!
Tonni received an amazing blessing from my dad!
and another a few days later from my uncle Blaine.
After a couple of days she was in and out of a coma,
she was pinching fingers in response to what we were saying to her.
Day THREE (I think) She said "ya" to ME!! lol
They were sponge bathing her, her bed was elevated 30% then pillows on top of that, they had her flipped over to her stomach lol she was bent like a horseshoe lol she starts screaming/moaning in discomfort so I removed the pillows and said is that better? and she whispers "ya..." lol! I was ECSTATIC!! everything started improving from there! it went from pinching your finger to taking her first few steps again!
it was more exciting then watching your own kid take their first steps and speaking their first words!!
After TEN days in the ICU critical care
TWO weeks in neurology ICU.....
on the side of the rode, near a field close to their house.

After TEN days in the ICU critical care
TWO weeks in neurology ICU.....

Poor Kipper had just joined the Marines and
left for boot camp before she could talk or walk or anything!!
It was super hard for him leaving knowing his sister was in such critical condition.

She spent the remainder of her FIVE week sentence in the rehab/physical therapy unit!
Where she could talk, walk (kind of lol) shower (assisted) eat what she wanted and was almost a normal person... other than she couldn't remember crap!!
She knew who her family was and at that point that's all that mattered.
She also kept mentioning a "DREAM" she kept having of someone dragging her through a field... :(
(This all before she even had a clue why she was there, we never told her anything until she had been out for quite awhile)
Just some funny stories of Tonni's multiple healing personalities while in the hospital:
ONE of her stages was what I like to call a "RANDOM STAGE" she would just say the weirdest things!!
She was looking kind of glum, we asked her "Tonni whats wrong?" She replies "I am sad for today my CAT and my BIRD died..." WHAT??? (she has NEVER had a cat or a bird lol)
Then same thing "What's wrong Tonni?" "My Tooth brush caught on fire today"
When she was in rehab and starting to kind of know what was going on we would tell her some of her stories of stuff she said or did while in the ICU and General care.
I told her about what she said about the toothbrush and she gives me a puzzled look and says "It must have been electric huh?" ha ha!
I was visiting her one day in rehab (the first day they let me come to rehab, they told us we couldn't visit at all for 2 or 3 days which was HELL after being by her side 100% of the time up until that point!) her nurse walks in and says "Hi Tonni My name is Melanie I will be your nurse today.." Tonni says "Hi, Whats your name? are you knew here?" the nurse says My name is Melanie and I have not worked since you have been here so I am new to you. Tonni says "oh, this is my sister Robyn whats your name?? lol My Name is Melanie I will be your nurse today Hi Melanie This is Robyn my sister.... is it okay if I call you MELLI??? lol!!
She also went through a raging rage stage!!! that was towards the middle of her ICU stay and beginning of her general care stage she would rip tubes out break devices that were connected to her (she even tried yanking her cathider (spelling?) out!! it mostly just hurt the crap out of her! the look on her face after she did that was pricless!!
She would say the most random stuff! One time my grandma (Janet) was sitting next to her bed and she had more visitors in the room then normal and everyone just happened to stop talking at the same time so it was quiet, she looks around and yells "WELL F*$K!! lol ummm... Tonni Grams is right next to you lol!
My friend Lana came in to give her massages while she was in the ICU to help the circulation and what not this was before she could hardly talk... Lana got done with both legs and stops, Tonni just opens her eyes just a slight (as wide as they would go) and lifts up her leg again (hinting she wanted more lol) :)
After a long 5 weeks she got to come home (to my moms)
And was back to normal..... kinda.... okay not really lol.
She knew who her family was and at that point that's all that mattered.

It was really about a year before she was really truly normal again.
If you didn't know her before you may have thought nothing of it but her family could tell that who ever did this left her for dead! took our lil TON TON and replaced her with someone else!!
I am so glad that she has made a full recovery physically and mentally if you ask me today she is 150% better than she was even before the TRAUMA!
Thank you to so many people in her LIFE today who have helped her get to where she is now and will continue helping her become more and more of a beautiful, wise, successful person today!!
I love you Tonni Harris so FREAKIN much and am sooooo freakin happy to have your cheerful self in my LIFE today!!!
This has brought my already close family even closer and I am thankful for that!!
if you have stories to add to this feel free to comment! I will probably come back at a later time and add to it for journaling reasons! I have already forgotten so much!! I think the trauma effected all of our brains!!
I tried SOOO hard to post this on the actual anniversary date (July 17th) but its been so crazy around here!

Ok this was really much harder to read then I anticipated.... Good ol' Tonni! I just love her so much and am so happy that she had so much love around her while she was healing...
I know it was harder to type up then I anticipated! That's why it isn't written very well I didn't even wanna go back and proof read it lol.
Oh wow Robyn! I had no idea this had even happened! What a scary thing to have to go through and I am so glad she came through it with flying colors! So they never were able to figure out what really happened to her? Oh and it was beautifully written by the way!
I remember when this happened. I just can't believe someone would do this. I am so glad she is okay now. Did they ever find out any info. or look for prints or investigate? So happy she has recovered from everything.
